On April 24, GenEvo RTG members met for an interactive workshop led by Prof. Dr. Heather Hofmeister, along with members of the SFB 1361. This workshop featured a screening of the documentary film “Picture a Scientist,” which presents the experiences of female scientists and their struggles in the academic environment.
The workshop aimed to examine perceptions and preconceived notions about science and scientists, ultimately aiming to bridge the gap between these perceptions and the reality of scientific practice. It provided a platform for introspection, exploration, and collaboration, with the ultimate goal of bridging the gap between expectations and the realities of science. By challenging stereotypes, raising awareness about gender disparities, and fostering inclusivity, this workshop contributed to creating a more diverse, equitable, and vibrant scientific community within the GenEvo RTG.
