On February 1, 2024, 29 early career researchers from four initiatives - GenEvo, 4R, SFB 1361, and SFB 1551 - came together for a half-day workshop led by Prof. Dr. Heather Hofmeister. This workshop delved into challenging conversations, examining how gender, culture, and power dynamics influence communication and comprehension. Through interactive simulations and reflective exercises, participants explored various communication styles, identified diverse needs and expectations, and acquired new vocabulary to adeptly navigate conversations. Equipped with concrete strategies, they departed with a heightened ability to enhance their workplace's culture and atmosphere, empowered to bridge gaps in understanding and cultivate a more inclusive research environment.
