Since Academia is a learning and training environment, a “catch and release” system, group leaders must constantly on-board new, early-career scholars (doctoral candidates and postdocs) and help launch them into their next postdoc or professorship or PI positions. There is an instability of team structures, skill sets, and personalities coming and going. Furthermore, teams are highly diverse with different skills sets, cultural backgrounds, and generations working together.
On June 6, 2024, 10 Principal Investigators from the initiatives GenEvo, 4R, SFB 1361, and SFB 1551 met for a half-day workshop led by Prof. Dr. Heather Hofmeister.
This workshop was set out to let participants develop skills and strategies for optimising their team’s effectiveness by getting more transparent about what, how, and why they are managing to save time and energy for the things that matter most.
