One of our GenEvo Principal Investigators, Dr. Marion Silies, Professor of Neurobiology and Head of the "Neural Circuits Lab" at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, has received an ERC Consolidator Grant for her project "Adaptive Vision".
She and her team investigate common challenges that visual systems face in dynamically changing environments using the model organism Drosophila melanogaster and other insects. The aim is to work out how diverse visual systems are adapted to specific environmental and behavioral constraints. This award directly follows her previous ERC Starting Grant on the topic of "Microcircuits in the fly's visual system".
Congratulations Marion! Much success and many ground-breaking results!
